I have always been fascinated by the idea of “what people do without consciously thinking about it.” When we do that, it is like a mirror of ourselves. We do all those things when we are looking at the world, taking in something from it, and unconsciously moving further to feel what this world is all about. I believe that’s a beautiful instinct, but sadly been denied by many people nowadays as the moments of wasting time or meaningless in a negative way. A fence is a barrier that can be seen everywhere in our world. I think its psychological effect is far greater than its actual effect. It sets a limit to people psychologically. Sometimes the fence in our minds is set by ourselves, just like whether people think a passage of time is meaningful or not is a reflection of our inner self.
I try to exaggerate daily unconscious behaviors, such as observing water drops rolling on the window, waiting for a fish to swim away, or reciting the beat to a metronome silently. I think that unconscious behavior is often unexplainable, it is the seeking of inner self, the real activity despite the rules of the society.
